Question

Auto tranny hard to shift

Sent to Car Experts July 22, 2006 11:21 p.m.

I have a 1999 corola, the shifter does not align to park when parking therefore car can roll and can't start the car until I play with the shifter finding park or neutral. I made worse by removing the push lock on top of the shifter to see if it was going to help but now i can't even remove the key because i can't figure out how to put the spring and the plastic piece back properly to make work again. So my questions are how to put back that top piece with the spring to make it work properly, 2nd how to remove the panel where the P/R/N/D... so i can try to align the shifter& what parts i need

Optional Information:
1999 Toyota corola 1.8L
