1998 Chevy Cheyenne 1500 pickup. Constant rattle/viberation from mid undercarriage during acceleration, sometimes even when coasting. It has been diagnosed that it is the heat shield, catalytic converter, drive shaft, etc., by authorized Chevy mechanics. Each time I'm told the problem is remedied, the rattle/vibration is still there, loud enough to hear from the sidewalk. Any ideas? Also, would this problem be covered under the powertrain warranty?

Hello Gertrude, Thank you for allowing JustAnswer to answer your car question. Sorry for the delay, we have been very busy today.

YOUR ANSWER: It sounds like maybe a chunk of the honeycomb element inside of the catalytic converter may have broken off.

If you or someone could get under the truck with a rubber hammer (truck off, emergency brake on) rap the 'cat' and surrounding exhaust until you isolate the rattle. That should tell you where your rattle is. If not, get back to me OK?
