1997 Chevrolet Corvette - belt squeel
Sent to Car Experts July 12 07:20 PM

I have a 1997 Chevrolet Corvette that has a belt squeel continuously while you drive it....cold motor or hot. The belt has been replaced (twice), as well as the tensioner pulley. I do not know if this is a common problem among this model corvette, or if there is simple solution to what I would think is a simple problem. Car is driven regularly, and has about 40K miles. Please help!

Reply to BOBBY's Post: yes...i believe so...the only thing they did not replace was the a/c, alternator, and crank pulley. I will look up records.

Make sure the idler pulley was changed because it is one of the most likely parts to squeal. If it was and there is nothing wrong with it you may have a problem with a alternator bearing. Let me know.
