my car ran out of gas and i put gas in to refuel it but its still not working. 10dollars worth of gas in it so far. i have a jeep liberty 2002. why isnt it working?

when you turn the key to the RUN position do you hear the fuel pump in the fuel tank come on for about 2 seconds?
