My rear left brake light works properly when the pedal is depressed, but only when my headlights are not on. When they are on and I press the brake, the light goes out completely. The car is a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. Any suggestions?

Generally this problem is a result of bodywork that was done. The brake light bulb is working in the tail-light mode. Some people can force a brake light bulb in the socket and get the same results as you've described. The bulb is either in backwards or the wires are crossed at the bulbholder.
