I have a 1995 bmw 325i series sedan and when I put the car in reverse the car stalls before shifting. I was told by a mechanic that the transmission is slipping. Any other possibilites?

If the transmission were slipping it would not stall. Something is locking up. Most likely the Torque Converter. Have you had the vehicle diagnosed with a scan tool? Is your check engine light on? Does it also do it when you put it in drive? Does it stall immediately after the shift? Does it seem to slam into gear, or lunge, before it stalls?
