I have an old mercedes 500 SEC that needs work in a
lot
of ways. But more specifically, I have taken it to get
serviced several times because often times when I start
the car, the engine revs up and suddenly the rpm drops
and the car dies. Sometimes the rpm drops but not
completely and the car keeps a choppy idle until it
slowly warms back up to 10 rpm. I took it to a mercedes
mechanic and he told me the fan belt engine needed to
be
replaced. I replaced it and it helped the car's idle
sound better, but it continued to have trouble starting
up on occasion. Another mechanic told me it was the
fuel
pump and after replacing it, the car still has trouble
(although it starts up easily more often now). I feel
like I've been through the wringer with this car and I
still haven't got at the root of the problem. - Justin
