Clutch Question?

Sent to Car Experts October 3 2004 at 4:16 AM

What causes a clutch to go out? Also, is there any way to prevent a clutch from going out? I sold my car to my cousin and her boyfriend a year ago. They are saying the clutch is out, and my car is a piece of junk, and refuse to make a payment.

the clutch disc...

they are like brake pads.the disc wears down to the rivits & slippage will occour.depending on the type of vehicle most clutches last between 75,000 to 140,000 miles

usually cost aprox 350.00 to 600.00 dollars

they should still pay you.you didnt sell them a car that will never have a problem...
