What is trans fluid/USA+UK car terms

I am in the UK please could someone help me with US car terms?

What is "transmission fluid" or trans fluid in a car, over here in the UK it means Gearbox fluid, but several questions ask if trans fluid is mixing with their oil.

Is it coolant/antifreeze? any other odd ones I should be aware of?

Trans fluid is the fluid used in automatic transmissions.Coolant is the same as antifreeze and petrol is called gas or gasoline over here.Diesel is correct as you have used it but they are not that popular in the USA in comparison to the UK.If there are any other terms you need to know please ask.

ok thanks for that, I am not sure why people on here were asking was it trans fluid in their coolant bottle then... hmmm maybe just strange people!

That's because if the transmssion oil cooler in the radiator leaks the pressure will force trans fluid into the cooling system and it ends up in the coolant bottle.You have a private message from me so check your pm box.
