ACCEPTED Check Mark

I'm assuming you meant a 3.1 liter if so I would check you fuel filter and pressure to start with, whens the last time filter replaced? let me know. pressuure should be 28-32psiat idle if low and filter is clen pinch off rteurn line if pressure gets to 75 psi or better replace fuel pressure regulator if not fuel pump needs replacing. if this helps an accept would be appreciated if you need more info let me know.

Would the fuel filter needing to be replaced also cause a rattle under the hood? The car has just within the last 2 years had a new transmission and I was wondering if it could be the head or valve in the engine? I dont know when the fuel filter has been replaced unless they do that when they change the oil if they do then about 1 year. Thank you for you response and I hope this information will help you more. I will try the fuel filter thing and we will see if that works thanks again.

REPLIED Check Mark

I would check fuel filter and fuel presure first provided there is no check engine light on if so should have engine scanned for code. rattle under hood coud be anything if you could narrow a point to where noise is coming from may be able to help on that.If fuel pressure okay check the catylitic converter (before muffler)to see if it is plugged.Let me know Thank you Bill
