I recently purchased a 95 Cirrus with 200,000 km on it for $400.00, I though I was getting a good deal until I took it for a test drive, the car will only do about 120 km/h.
The engine seems to run ok, with only a small miss fire at around 2000 rpm but after that it sounds good. The engine revs at 6000 rpm before it changes into second, It redlines at every gear change, and sometimes it won't shift out of 2nd gear. I think It's going into Limp home mode. A mechanic told me that It needs a total tranny rebuild costing over 1500 dollars, not a option for a 17-year old without a job. What do you think the problem might be?
and is it alright to drive in 2nd gear all the time, just making sure the engine dosn't rev to high?
