I have a 1987 bmw325ic. Cranks but does not start. When i removed the Fuel line from he regulator and crank the car, it starts and fuel gushes out from the regulator.. Is this a bad regulator or fuel filter(1.5yrs) or bad fuel pump. this car has 2 pumps, one in the tank and another by the reat tire drivers side. IS there a universal test on fuel pump?

Already Tried:
new plugs, new fuel pump relay,clean out the cab intake,change air filter and once the car start, no hesitation and gets up to speed in no time. after a lonf sit it may/may not start.
