Weird noise to front of vehicle
Sent to Car Experts May 10 08:24 AM

Good Morning,
I have a mitsubishi montero limited with 60,000 miles. In the last two weeks I have been hearing a weird sound coming from the front of my vehicle. It sounds like a wounded duck sound. In the interim I have changed two rear rotors and installed all new thermo quiet brake pads(wagner) to all four wheels .( Vehicle needed these services anyway). The noise still continues but not as often. What could this sound be?   Please help !!!!!

Optional Information:
2002 Mitsubishi montero ltd 3.5 v6

Reply to 32roadster's Post: Let me rephrase my original thoughts. Your'e right. I don't know what a wounded duck sounds like. Let's just say it sounds like a duck's call and the sound is made only when the vehicle is in motion. It will do it when I brake and sometimes when I am simply driving and I turn the steering wheel. It seems to be coming from the front of the vehicle. It is a sound I have never ever heard before so it is rather perplexing. All my mechanical systems seem to be functioning properly.

P.S. As soon as this sound started i opened up the hood of my vehicle and found that the brake fluid was dangerously low. My mechanic upon doing the new brakes refilled the reservoir with no further incidents. Can you help now?????

Have the from suspension checked. The culprit is one of 2 possible culprits. CV joint or wheel bearing. I would lean more on the wheel bearing though.

I dont think any of this has to do with the brake or the fluid beling low because if that were the case, you would have very poor braking(which you didnt mention) and you more then likely would hear this more if not only when braking.
