Question

y does my car a/c make noise when I try to use it?

Sent to Car Experts May 06, 2006 4:45 p.m.

I replaced the bearing in the ac clutch. Oil got out of the compressor but I don't know how much. I put the ac compressor back in the car and had it charged. It clatters when I turn it on. Needless to say I had to disable it. Is it low on oil? Can I put some in until no longer clatters?

Optional Information:

Already Tried:
nothing...I ccut the wire to the clutch so it wouldn't come on so I could use the car

Sounds like the compressor is wore out. Putting oil back into it might help, but it's probably too late and you need another compressor.

The compressor never made any noises until I took it out to repair the clutch. Can oil be injected into the system or does it have to be taken out and added manually
