transmission problems
Sent to Car Experts September 08 09:46 AM

we have 2000 gmc sierra 4wd 2500. we had the truck in the shop in 6/19/03 and we told the dealership that the transmission made a clunk sound when the transmission would shift. the truck was and still under warrenty, but we think they are just trying to get out of a warrenty repair. when the truck went in on june 2003 they told us it was not the transmission but that the differential rear was loose and worn and they replaced the the differential. the transmission seemed to be a little better but not right. we have taken the truck back to the dealer two days ago and we were told that the transmission was 3 quarts low on transmission fluid. i don't think that this is the case at all but i don't know enough about car repair to know. my question is how would the transmission get that low if it is true. would it leak or what. there is nothing leaking in my driveway or would it drive at all being that low. please help. we have 8 trucks and we service our vehicles every 3000 miles.
thank you

The transmission has not been serviced other than the june 03 and the radiator & trans cooler has not been replaced. We also have not seen any leakage in our driveway. I still think the dealership is trying to get out of the repair. thank you for your quick response.

I wish I could find out if that was the case. when they replace the differential do they have to drain the transmission fluid. I have no idea how or if the two are related or linked.
Thank you for your response
