the alarm on my car went off and i didnt know it even

the alarm on my car went off and i didnt know it even had an alarm because i just bought it from someone and we waited for it to turn off and then we disconnected the battery and reconnected it and now the alarm doesnt go off but my car wont start. what do i do?
