Type your Car question here I replaced want I though was a bad power window motor in my 94 Cougar. The old motor work after i unbolted form the window Frame.I replaced it anyway.I wired and checked the new motor before bolting it into place.I work fine it ran both ways.I bolted it into place and it only run the window down but not up.I removed it again and it ran fine both ways.It will only run 1 way even if only bolt it in loosely not even engaging the window oporator .I notice that it does drawn voltage from the meter on the dash.Is there a limit switch or something that won't let the window motor work. The window moves freely up and down without motor engaged.

hi thank you for the question hope this helps

yes there is a limiter switch in the window motor. this stops power to the motor at the top (fully closed).

with the motors removed from the frame can you pull the window up with your hands.
if not the track or the operator arm is jamming stopping the power to the motor as it would if it was at the top(closed).

Here's the puzzle.
Right now I have the door back together and the motor bolted in loose so it doesn't engage the window gear. The motor only run on the down switch.if push it up the volt meter show it's drawing power but it does spin.I can move the window up and down by freely.and if I remove from it's mount it spins freely in both directions.
Any ideas.
