My sons car wont start. He stopped at a gas
Sent to Car Experts April 02 04:17 PM

My sons car wont start. He stopped at a gas station to get gas and the car would not start when he was done. He says there have been no problems with it. I clicks when the key is turned and the gauges are normal.

Loose battery connection most likely.Let me know if it jump starts. If he is there now he will need a 5/16 (8mm)box end or socket to attempt to tighten the cable terminals.

OK. Did you try to jump start it?and how does he know battery is charged.12V means nothing when you are talking about a vehicle battery. The battery would need to be load tested. it could have just a surface charge of 12V then fall down as soon as you put any load on it.From your description this definately sounds like a loose connection though, just by the way it occured.I wonder if the connections at the starter and the ground cable at the block were checked. If you need to go beyond these simple checks you will need a test light or multi-meter to trace the starter circuit for where it's losing power. If he hears the starter clicking we can assume the circuit to be in tact. This leaves the starter solenoid(starter itself) or loose corroded connections or weak battery.
