my oil gage shot up from c while driving all the way past h
I also do not get any heat in the car, the thermostate appears to be non functional
I stop and put in three quarts of oil and some coolant.
the gage still goes way past H if I drive the car.
What can be done or has to be done ?

I would change the thermostat first and then see what happens. If you floow the upper radiator hose to the engine you will see a metal part that it is clamped to.Remove the hose and then unbolt that part to change the thermostat.Reassemble and fill with coolant. Then drive the car and see what happens. It may be okay if not let me know and we can go further into it.

Reply to Davo/diablo666's Post: Would it be ok to drive the car with the gage on high to the garage to have it repaired, or will that do greater damage to the transmission.

It would be best if you didn't but if it's only a couple miles you would probably be okay.
