My engine light came on so I took it in to the dealer. They said it was carbon in my ?? ( can not think of the part name but it was $402..my paperwork is in car and car is at garage)and I needed new a new one and I also needed to have a fuel system FLUSHED ($159)to get the carbon out. I agreed and had the work done.I got the car back and that night after driving about 70 miles something strange happened. When I started off from a stop light ...the car jumped as if I had it in neutral / accelerated and put it in drive. Never had that before. It did that two more times that night. The next day I took it to where I have my cars serviced (not the dealer that did the work) and they said it could be the throttle cable in a bind ....and when the dealership did the fuel carbon cleaning they may have caused the throttle to do this. WHAT DO I KNOW!!
I left there to go home(about 10 miles away) with the intentions of taking the car back to the dealership(30 miles away) on Monday but I had a few things to do in town first before I went home. Here is the bad part....about 8 miles later while still driving in town (about 8 -10mph) the car jammed down like I had slammed on brakes. I put it in neutral waited a few seconds --in shock-- and put it back in drive and started off again...I went about 15 yards
and the front end dropped down again as if braking...the transmission was in a terrible bind... I put it back in neutral and waited a few minutes/ looked under the hood..and decided to go to my service garage that was two blocks away(thank goodness). All I could do was a few yards at a time and the transmission went into a bind making me stop. My service man tried it and said it acted like a sensor problem on the transmission putting the car in two gears at once?? Electrical/ sensor /???? He said it would do it when I let off the gas ?
Does this make any sense at all? My car has 161,000 and "did" drive like a dream. It is not a turbo charged motor. Is this going to be a big $$$$ for me? What do sensors cost (if that is the case) and how many does the transmission have?
Thanks for you help and advice ... Fred Love, NC
