What would cause an escort to turn over repeatedly after replacing the timing belt and not recieve any fire to crank the motor . can the distributor have moisture in a 97 ford escort with a 2.0 motor

the short answer is that yes it could have water in it. Remove the cap and check. Condensation is possible especially if the car has sat for awhile. One question, did the car run or at least start prior to replacing the timing belt?
