yesterday i was driving my car which was running fine, i ran out of fuel due to a faulty fuel gauge. i then returned and put gas back into the car and started it. the vehicle run irradically and would not idle correctly. thinking that i had flooded the vehicle i reved the engine a few times and the vehicle would still not run correctly. the car started smoking from under the passenger side door. after close inspection i noticed the catalytic converter was glowing red. is it time to replace the cat. ? or what could be some possible problems to look for the car is a 1995 pontiac trans -am
