When im slowing down (putting on my brakes) my car ...

When im slowing down (putting on my brakes) my car doesn't squeak like my brakes are bad but like my roaters are bad. I am brake happy and have to change my brakes numerous times but now it's like putting forward and my wheel shakes. Do i need to replace the roaters and how much does it range from. I have a 2003 toyota corolla s. Thaks for your time.

Hi there. Yes it sounds like your rotors need resurfacing. You probably won't have to replace them just have turned in a shop and they will be good as new. First you have to pull your calipers off the front brakes. Then you can remove the rotors. There is usually two to four fasteners that need to be removed in order to do this. Most of these will have a torx head on them.These type of wrench sets can be bought at your local auto parts store. But you should check just to make sure. Somethimes they use an allen type head. Once they are removed, take them to a shop and they put them on a machine that turns them planning them and smoothing them remove burrs and warpage. If they are too out of specification they will have to be replaced. Having them turned costs about $10 a piece, replacing them new will cost much more, probably almost $200 new. YOu can go to a junk yard and get them at much lower cost.
