I had alternator trouble, replaced it and the battery.

I had alternator trouble, replaced it and the battery. (unfortunately I did not have the old one tested) Now I'm having the same problem when I run the car I get less than 12 volts across the charging system. Connections are good no blown fuses or relays (on anything not just the charging system). I took the part back to the part store for testing and they told me it was good and putting out 15volts. I think it works but is it the right alternator for my car. Its a 98 Honda passport (Isuzu Rodeo) I noticed in the Haynes book that there are 6 "typical" charging system diagrams for all of the models of passport/rodeo.
How do I find out if this is the problem and if the part is right for my car.

Optional Information:
1998 Honda Passport V6

Already Tried:
replacing battery and alt ground checks/shorts fuses/relays
