I had a car fire 2-28-06, 1994 chevy blazer s10. Started under the dash. I had work done on it 5 days prior. A new starter and brake light switch. Do you think that either one of these could have started the fire? I had pulled up to my mailbox to check the mail. Put it in park, so I could take my foot off of the break and reach in the mailbox. I heard a pop and the car quit. I turned off the radio, heater and all accessories. Tried to start it again, only clicks when turning the key (could this be something with the starter?) then white smoke came out of hood (under windshield, then passinger side) then some from dashboard vents. I thought it was overheating. I made a few phone calls. then opened the hood, didn't see anything, no smoke, no flames. I went back into the car, now black smoke pouring out of dashboard vents, then I saw flames under plastic cowling by pedals. It was engulfed within a few minuets. I know they had to remove that cowling to get to the brake light switch. What do you think?
Have you heard of any problems like this with blazer's? I no longer have an e-mail address, please leave answer on my cell phone 218-821-7970, please let me know asap,
Thank you,
Stacy
