power steering pump

I rebuilt my power steering pump and it's not working, what did I do wrong. I took pump apart and threw all the parts together with a magnet that was in the pump, and all the parts became magnatized. I demagnatized all the parts with a de-magnatizing device, but it still don't work. I thought that maybe Ididn't get all the magnatism out of the spinner that spins the impeller blade, because it seems like they are still sticking in their slots. Should these blades move out of their slots when you spin the pump by hand?c
