what are the symptoms of a timing belt breaking? i'm not sure how to check mine without tearing the engine apart. i have a 97 dodge intrepid.

found i have spark, fuel pump working, injectors giving gas battery new,

hi thank you for the question hope this helps

if your timing belt is broken you car would not start. you would here a grinding or rubbing on the front of the engine

the engine would crank over but not start

there is no grinding noise, we have spark and fuel to injectors, battery cranks, but engine doesn't start

Relist: I still need help.
we have spark and gas, but we found out when looking at the engine the left cam is misaligned by one notch, does this really make a difference? it's one notch before dead center. we also felt that there is no air suction but don't know how to really check that

no, the car won't start at all, we decided to change the belt anyway, and it feels like it's getting no suction air at the manifold intake
