I have a 99 v6 camry. When cold it won't shift from 2 to 3 until the engine warms up...or I accelerate to 2800 rpm. I don't like to run the engine that fast when cold. Once warm, the car will shift to 3 at 1500 to 1800 rpm, as it should. I took it to two (2) different Toyoto dealers...they will not admit there is a problem. I drive it for them when cold and every mechanic says " thats strange". I took it to them when it was still under warranty. So, I let the car warm up before driving. I know it will not shift into overdrive until the engine warms up...the manual states that...but not shifting into 3, thats not in the manual.
