I have a 1993 Dodge Shadow that I took in when the car stalled on the freeway. The mechanics changed the timing belt and when I picked the car up, it had no acceleration or pickup of any kind (not previously a problem) and it fought me. I was on the freeway at the time (again) and for safety's sake, I had to push the pedal to the floor in order to stay alive. Once I did this, the car seemed to "break free" but then started to rumble and shake. I took it back to the mechanics immediately and they said that the two things couldn't be related and then told me that my manifold was cracked. They further said (after 18 days) that they couldn't fix the car and that I should take it to a muffler shop to see if they can weld it together. So, two questions: Could the timing belt have been replaced incorrectly causing the acceleration problem and is this welding idea founded. They said (after 18 days) that they couldn't find the necessary part to fix the car.
