I have a 2000 Grand Marquis Mercury, V8, with 66,000 miles on it. When I first start the car in the morning, It makes a loud scraming noise until I push on the gas and then it stops. 'During the first moments of driving it, the same thing happen when I slow down and let off the gas. Was wondering what you think might be the problem? Do you think it is a major problem? Thanks in advance for your help. Best regards.

ACCEPTED Check Mark

I would check the belt and pulleys. You may be getting mositure on the belt causing it to slip when you start the car. Check the condition of the belt. Also check all the pulleys and make sure they are aligned. Usually belt noise is cause be pulleys out of alignment. Usually the tensioner. Sight down the pulley and see if they are in line. Hope this helps let me know if you have any more questions.
