I am trying to replace the ignition switch in a 1995 Chevy Camaro. Where can I find the switch in my car to take it out?

REMOVAL

  1. Remove lefthand instrument panel sound insulator assembly, then the instrument panel driver knee bolster assembly and deflector.
  2. Ensure steering column lock and ignition switch are in Lock position, then remove steering column upper support nuts and lower column assembly.
  3. Disconnect electrical connectors from dimmer switch assembly and ignition switch, then remove dimmer switch actuator rod.
  4. Remove dimmer switch assembly, then the ignition switch actuator rod.
  5. Remove ignition switch, then disconnect automatic transmission park lock cable assembly, if equipped.

INSTALLATION

  1. Connect automatic transmission park lock cable assembly, if equipped, then ensure ignition switch, steering column lock and ignition cylinder assembly are in Lock position.
  2. Install ignition switch to jacket, then connect ignition switch actuator rod to ignition switch.
  3. Torque ignition switch mounting screws to 22 inch lbs.
  4. Install dimmer switch assembly, then adjust by pressing switch mechanism slightly to insert a 3/32 inch drill bit and moving dimmer switch assembly to remove tool.
  5. Torque dimmer switch mounting screws to 35 inch lbs.
  6. Install dimmer switch actuator rod, then connect electrical connectors to dimmer switch assembly and ignition switch.
  7. Raise column assembly and install upper support nuts.
  8. Install instrument panel driver knee bolster assembly and deflector, then the lefthand instrument panel sound insulator assembly.
