I have a 96 Mitsubishi Eclipse, We just replaced the value cover gasket that was leaking.
Now the problem is the car is running rough, made a loud bang and clang and stalls out. And the value cover has some oil on it, after it runs for a few miles.
Once or twice, white smoke comes out of the exhaust as well.
Can this be a fuel problem. Perhaps a fuel filter or fuel pump problem?

What's going on and what can I do.

Optional Information:
1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.0 L

Already Tried:
Just replaced the Value cover gasket and cleaned out the GT unit , replaced the plugs not the wires.

The white smoke that you describe is an indication that there may be a coolant leak in the head. Is there any loss of radiator fluid? Are there any bubbles coming into the radiator that you can see with the cap off? Note dont take the cap off the radiator if it is hot. Wait for it to be cool and then take the radiator cap off and then start it and check for bubbles. This would cause the rough running too as water in the cylinder wont let it fire. The loud bang and clang has me concerned that you may have an issue with a valve or something that fell into the cylinder when the plugs where changed. If there is a coolant leak though, water cant be compressed and this could cause it also. IF the smoke is not white, and it is gray then there is an issue with oil consumption. IS it using any oil? Does it smoke when you start it? Does it smoke when you accellerate? If it is during start up, then it is oil leaking by the valves, if it is during accelleration, then it is piston rings.

This is my son's car and I will have to ask him more of your questions.
