as was driving my car yesterday i saw battery and back

As was driving my car yesterday, I saw battery and back light on the dash board, coming and going. This morning the battery is down and re-charge the battery and start the car. As a start the car I saw O/D off on the dash board. what is O/D off and how can I make my car function properly. My is 1992 Camry
