1991 acura
Sent to Car Experts December 27 09:50 PM

I have a 1991 acura legend. After Katrina hit I had to get the computer chip changes at the Acura dealership for 1500.00 Now, the horn does not work-the inside courrtesy lights-and the light on the dash monitor continues to stay on stating brake lamp. Also, they said that the tracks for the power seats need to be changed (as the water messed up the motors on the power seats) $2500.00 for the drivers seat and 1200.00 for the passenger. I asked if I could just plug the switch under the seats back in just to get the seat adjusted properly. They said not to as it will cause the computer chip to go out again. Please help as this is my only means of transporation!

Thanks Steve,

You provided me with helpful information. The Acura is in great shape (never wrecked) and it only received a small amount of water. I figured the dealership was trying to rip me off!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would appear that the dealer has indeed quoted you an amount of more then the car's book value, probably in attempt to make you go away... they probably are afraid of a vehicle with water damage to electronic components continuing to come back after they have worked on it due to other electronic problems.

If the vehicle was in enough water to get the seats wet, it might be a good idea to have the transmission fluid changed and any other components below that level checked for water intrusion damage (at some repair shop other than the dealer).

If the information I have provided is helpful, an accept is always appreciated! thanks!
