hyundai elantra transmission problem

Sent to Car Experts December 27, 2005 9:10 a.m.

I have a 2003 hyundai elantra with automatic transmission problems. Three times the car has gone into 'limp mode' and second or third gear is the top gear. At the same time the headlights and or the directionals are disabled. What could be the problem? Does the transmission need to be replaced?

Optional Information:

ACCEPTED Check Mark

If the transmission goes into limp mode there should be a code stored in the computer to point you in the right direction. Once you have these codes I can try to help you out further. Diagnosis on computer controlled transmissions require diagnostic trouble codes in order to correctly and quickly diagnose any problems. AutoZone will retrieve powertrain codes at no charge. Again once you get the codes let me know.
