I purchased a 2003 Toyota Echo from World Car Center in San Antonio, Texas 5 months ago and today I was told by the manufacturer that my car has thrown a rod. I purchased an extended warranty and the car still has the manufacturers 60 thousand mile powertrain warranty. The Toyota dealer will not honor the powertrain manufacturers warranty because they say that it is obvious that either I or the previous owner did not keep up the oil changes. I changed the oil every 3,000 miles and have my receipts but Toyota says the previous owner may not have kept up with the maintenance. What should I do? I cannot afford to buy a new engine and I think that the car had pre-existing problems?
