2001 xterra-dash light "BRAKE" is on. Goes off usually if braking hard and then comes right back on. Sometimes will go off and stay off in stop and go traffic but is always on when car is started after engine shut down.   Historic code?? Can it be problem with acual brakes or just a problem with E brake sensor????

Sure it can be a problem with your brakes,I would advise checking them or getting them checked soon.If you let a brake problem go sometimes it can cost alot more in repairs due to damaged parts.

I just had it in for a 60,000 mile service and they inspected and cleaned the brakes approx. 1000 miles ago. fluid level looks good and no problems with braking. what kinds of things can set off the dummy light?
