I am buying a 98 Bonneville but there is no heat. The AC is fine. The owner says a mechanic fixed the AC last summer but lost the heat. He said it's one or the other. What gives?

It is hard to say whats going on without seeing the vehicle.

But if the the vehicle is up for sale and the heat is not working. And a mechanic looked at it and said it is one or the other. It sounds like the mechanic rigged the mix doors to compensate for a repair that was not performed.

If the car was repaired properly, the heat and AC would both function.
