my car a 1993 chevy corsica has started stalling out during start up.my fuel filter hasn't been replaced in a long time could this be the cause.

Yes it could be but not likely. have u checked the fuel pressure regulator.

Reply to amedee's Post: no I haven't checked the fuel pressure regulator. this happened last night and I managed to drive the car around the parking lot and turned off the car and restarted the car and the car ran fine.

I would recommend to still check the fuel pressure regulator. It is a common failure.
