Question

car speedometer turn engine start olds 2000

Sent to Car Experts September 16, 2005 9:50 p.m.

For about 3 weeks my 2000 Olds Intrigue would sporadically refuse to start. The engine was turning but it would be on the 10th try it finaly started. Today it won't start at all and the engine is not turning. When I turn the key all lights dim, alarm starts chirping, the needles on the tach and speedometer go haywire. What could be the problem? I tried jumping the car but it's not the battery.

REPLIED Check Mark

The immediate problem is a dead battery. You need to charge the battery in order to test it to determine if it is good or not. If is bad, replace it and then you can test the charging system on the car to make sure it is recharging the battery.

If the light dim, it's a low voltage issue in the car. It could be just a bad connection at one of the cables but it's definately not getting enough battery power to the car.
