AC problems-high humid inside vehicle
Sent to Car Experts September 02 05:28 PM

2005 t&c van 4000 miles, the ac will not cool correctly compared to our older 1996 T&C, all fans on high, front and back, 50 deg out of vents, 88 to 92 outside temp, inside temp 78.
Had to dealer started no problem 32 at vent.

Take it back and compare it with another town and country side by side.I think you will find 50 degrees at the vent on a 92 degree day with high humuidity and sun load is damn good.Thats a 42 degree drop in temperature. An air conditioner that puts out 32 dgrees is not working properly.Ice would form on the evaporator and the refrigerant would not turn into a vapor and the compressor would be ruined. You also would not get any cool air with ice on the evaporator. You can't compare the old van to the new one they are not the same vehicle. If the two vehicles are different and the other one is colder make them remove the refrigerent and evac and recharge the system from zero.I have seen the wrong charge come from the factory a few times.

Reply to Davo/diablo666's Post: While driving the temp coming out the vent is 50 deg, outside temp is 92 deg, around 87 inside front, here in NE the humid is low, not like in TX.
I drove a 05 Durango the ac fans were on low and no problem with the cooling or high humid.
The work order from the dealer here in NE states 32 at center vent, from what your telling me this can not be, I will take your info back to the dealer for corrective action, we just got back from a small town 37 miles away and I'm ready to lay down from the heat inside the van.
With this added info do you change anything?

No I still think you need to compare it to the same van with the same a/c system as yours and I still say you are not going to see 32 degrees at the vent on a properly working a/c system. Are you running the a/c on max low temp or trying to run it on 70 degres or something. You can't compare yor van to a Durango they are two distinctly different vehicles with different a/c loads on them.Air conditioning does not blow cold air it removes heat from the air. That results in a colder temp at the vent that what went into the hvac case.If you have a sun roof, lots of windows, black or other dark color paint more people in the car etc it takes longer to cool the air because heat is being added to it constantly.I do hope you are using the recirculation mode on your van.

Reply to Davo/diablo666's Post: Thanks for your quick reply, I'm using the recirculation to keep the inside around 78 the fans are on full blast, low humid outside, temp 88 to 98 on the road.
I will take your advice and look at the difference between 05's.
I'm in NW NE dry but warm.
My wife can't understand what happens to all the cool air going into the rear and why the van can't stay cooler? it's going somewhere.
Thanks again
