My car won't start, but the headlights work, the heater works, and the stereo works what could be wrong?

What exactly is it doing?

All those things still don't mean the battery is good.

Have you tried a jump start?

Reply to Hammer Time's Post: when I try to start the car is makes a hmmm noise. But the lights, heater, and the radio still works. Right now my car is at the shop. They are saying that the battery is no good. But my main problem is that I just had it serviced July 7,2005 and a diagnostic test was done and no one told me that the battery needed to be replaced. I guess I am wondering if a diagnostic test would let the mechanics know that the battery in a car is going bad
