The mechanic has your engine out of valve time from putting the belt on wrong.It is a classic symptom of being off one tooth low power and stumbling or shaking.I would tell him to make sure it's on correctly and if he says it is tell him you are going to have someone else check it and if it's out of valve time you want your labor refunded for what he charged you.I have seen this problem so many times it makes me sick.Most people try to adjust the distributor to cover up their mistake but that will not help valve timing the distributor only affects ignition timing.If this answer helped you please click on my accept button.I would like to add I've put my fair share of timing belts and water pumps on Honda engines and never had that problem because I put the belt on correctly.
