Engine rpm drops 400 - 500 rpm
Sent to Car Experts August 03 02:41 PM

my 2001 taurus (3L Vulcan)experiences a drop in rpm when coasting. It is noticable most at 60mph when you take your foot off the gas pedal. The rpm will drop from 200 to about 1600 and then runs normaly.

Reply to Hammer Time's Post: It is not a normal ...slow drop in RPM. It as if there is some sort of obstruction with the engine power. There is a noticable and siginifant drop in power and rpm. It is almost as if the car was droped into a lower gear, but the rpm drops rather than goes up as would happen in a downshift.

I'm in the exit lane of the highway decelerating from 70+ mph and this occurs. If you have a suggestion as to the problem, please reply.
