idle adjustment on vehicle

have a 2002 cavalier with a 2.2L engine. idles too low. AC compressor goes in and out at low idle.

The idle is not adjustable and is controlled by the computer. You could try cleaning the throttle body and throttle plate if the idle is not holding stable. The A/C compressor cycling will cause the idle to constantly change, That's normal to bump up whe the A/C comes on.

tried answer that was accepted, but still having problem. as long as car is in constant speed have no problem,but when having to stop at a light or drive slowly through drive through, the rpm needle jumps and the ac clicks costantly then the car jumps slightly forward. if i turn ac off car runs fine.

You have an A/C problem. It's normal for the idle to change witrh every cycle of the A/C. Youi need to find out what's making the A/C fast cycle and that will have to be done by a trained A/C technician.
