Most manufacturers provide a maintenance schedule to follow to keep the vehicle in good condition. If you follow the service recommendations, the car will live a much longer and more troublefree life.

Transmission service is an important maintenance item;fluid wears out and needs to be replaced every 30,000 miles or so (check the owners manual for the particular vehicle involved; service intervals vary somewhat).

It sounds as if the previous owner has been following the maintenance schedule; if so, the car is probably in better than average condition. If you have any doubts, ask if you can have the vehicle inspected by your mechanic before purchase... the few dollars this costs can save you major expense later if a problem exists.

If this is helpful, an accept would be much appreciated! thanks!
