please help me with my car

the other day my friend did not close the car door all the way and the lights stayed on. i did not return to my car for 3 days and when i did every thing was dead. i got a friend to jump me off so i coult go to the store and back. the next day i tryed to start the car up and smoke started comming out from under the hood it smelled like plastic. i then put a brand new battery in the car it starts up but will automaticly die if the gas pettel is not pushed down. whats going on? please help me
