I have a 2001 ford tarus and after you drive it for awhile and turn it off it will not restart until 2 or 3 hrs later

First step is to test for spark, injecter pulse and correct fuel pressure at the time of the failure.

Reply to Hammer Time's Post: Thanks Hammer time, I'm assuming you mean the coil gets weak with the heat. I just tried to restart and it ran for about 10 seconds real rough and than died.

No, I didn't imply that at all. I stated that you need to isolate which system is having a problem by testing to see which function is dropping out. I'm not really suspecting the coil at all. We need to know if the car has spark, injecter pulse and correct fuel pressure during the failure. Them we can tell you what to look at.
