2000 Izuzu Rodeo Problem

I have a 2000 Izuzu Rodeo - 6 cyl. The "cruise control" light keeps coming on and when it does the car does a big hesitation. It has been to the shop where they indicated they disconnected the cruise control. So what is happening? HELP
