Question

truck won't even turn over

i changed alternator in my 85 chevy s-10 and didn't remove the ground cable, i did remove the positive and of course the poitive cable moved and touched the battery positive side, caused my wire to the alternator to arc now it gets no power to the alternator when i test it with my test light? i can't find any blown fuses or anything?

You will find two fusible links on the starter solenoid ,they are the thin wires on the big stud at the solenoid.

One or both of these wires are burnt out they can be temporally bypassed for testing but must be replaced with the same size wire for safety reasons.

I am confident after looking at the schematic that the truck will start and charge after repairing the fusible links.

obviously i'm not much of a car wrench, i will try this first thing tomorrow morning and i appreciate the input, after it works i'll contact you back and pay the 50.00 i said iwould thanks doug
